IN MEMORIUM The local Billiards community note the sad passing of Chris Tunstill who died recently The more senior players will remember Chris fondly and although he has not played Billiards for some years will certainly be sadly missed. He will be fondly remembered for his kind donation of a set of Billiard balls to each Worcester League club. John Smith, a close friend of Chris writes:
Chris came to this area around 1970 for his
job at the BBC Wood Norton. I can pinpoint the date with some
accuracy as it corresponded with a three year period when I was
not playing billiards but noticed this new name appearing in
league results. Initially Chris played at St Stephens Club but
soon moved to Pershore WMC - obviously more convenient as he was
living at Peopleton. Later Chris played with me at Pockets and
obviously I got to know him very well them.

On behalf of the Brian was a larger than life character who
was a founder of the league. His knowledge of the game and
enthusiasm for it were renowned. WAIBS have sadly lost one of
their greatest ever chairmen, a post he held for many years. He
will be sadly missed and never forgotten. Our deepest sympathies are with, and
condolences are extended to, Brian’s family and his many friends
for their sad loss.
Geoff Wells (Chairman) A tribute from Neil Sheppard (Capt Pershore C); I am so sorry to hear of the recent
death of Brian who along with Peter Archer took me and several
other young 14 / 15 year olds under their wings in the mid to
late 60s and taught us in the Pershore Working Men’s club the
basic fundamentals of the game, manners of play to your
opponent, table cleaning, in general the art of our wonderful
game. The first player I witnessed to make a break over 80 I was
in awe, and I still haven’t made a break over 55 so it goes to
show how good he was with the standard of balls / equipment /
cloth in those days.
